WIN News bringing local news back to Nine Darwin with a 5.30pm weekday bulletin – WIN Network will bring local television news back to Nine Darwin later this year, with a full 30-minute WIN News bulletin airing at 5.30pm weekdays.
Featuring local news, sport and weather, the bulletin represents a long-term commitment to Darwin and surrounding communities. Recruitment is already underway for journalists and camera operators who will live and work in the city.
For Darwin viewers, the change means a dedicated local half-hour on Nine Darwin each weeknight, with Tipping Point moving to 4.30pm to make room. It is also the latest move for WIN News, which updated its presenter line-up in August when Steve Hart departed.
The announcement builds on WIN’s commitment to local news, with 23 bulletins across regional Australia, including three capital cities.
WIN says Darwin deserves local commercial news
WIN Network CEO Andrew Lancaster said locally based news gathering would be central to the Darwin service.
As a capital city, Darwin deserves a local television news service on a commercial channel which reflects its people, its priorities and its community.

Mr Lancaster said the new team would be based in the city.
We are recruiting journalists and camera operators who will live and work in Darwin, with their feet on the street, building relationships and understanding the stories that matter most to the city and surrounds.
