Tonight | My Kitchen Rules on Channel 7: Krysten and Lucy chase redemption – My Kitchen Rules on Channel 7 heads into round two of Instant Restaurants tonight, and Queensland mother and daughter Krysten and Lucy are first to cook again. The episode airs at 7.30pm on Channel 7 and 7plus.
The pair scored 72 in the first round and want to prove they can do much more. A second Instant Restaurant gives every team a clean slate, but it also brings the new Gatecrasher teams to the table for the first time as competitors.
A technical menu built on Lucy’s baking
Lucy is a self-taught baker who runs her own market-stall bakery, and the menu is designed to show it. The entree is Chilli Crab with Shio Pan and Lime Butter, a dish that needs perfectly cooked crab, balanced heat and flawless bread.
The main is Sticky Duck with Asian Greens and 1000 Layer Potato. The duck needs a pink cook and well-rendered fat, while the glaze has to balance sweet and savoury.
Dessert is a Chocolate, Honey and Amaretto Eclair. When the choux pastry hits a roadblock, perfectionist Lucy is worried, and the pair change their presentation to rescue the dish. Whether the judges notice is one of the night’s big questions.
The Gatecrashers arrive at the table
Sheridan and Ted meet their rivals face to face and quickly feel the tension. They question whether Gatecrashers were scored more harshly, and Alisha and Deanne fire back that the scores reflected the food and nothing else.
Simon also challenges Gatecrasher Zoe over her dietary requirements and whether she can score dishes fairly. With rivalries building, Krysten and Lucy need a meal strong enough to cut through the noise for judges Manu Feildel and Colin Fassnidge.
