Last Orders is a cheeky reference to Angus’s job as a funeral director. The friends want their elevated pub food to make a stronger first impression than Krysten and Lucy’s opening dinner.
The second night gives the new season its first direct score to beat. It also tests whether the personalities introduced at the opening table can stay focused on the food when criticism turns personal.
Angus and Simon bring an Asian twist to pub favourites
The hosts have built their menu around classic comfort food and the Asian flavours they enjoy. Their entree is a Wagyu sausage roll, followed by a gochujang chicken parmi and coconut panna cotta for dessert.
That mix gives judges Manu Feildel and Colin Fassnidge something familiar and something new to assess. They like the use of different ingredients in classic dishes, but the first two courses bring mixed results. Dessert becomes crucial to the friends’ hopes of beating the score already on the board.
Angus and Simon have fun together in the kitchen, yet the night has a clear competitive target. They need to top Krysten and Lucy to feel safe from elimination.
A tense table waits at Last Orders
Across the table, Alisha and Deanne feel judged and underestimated. Their loud approach soon collides with other teams’ ideas about food and how to critique it.
Jane and Shane’s considered style of presentation and criticism also draws attention. Tiffany and Giancarlo say they would rather let their cooking speak for itself than attack other contestants. A single word in one critique raises the tension further, with a walk-out among the dramatic moments ahead.
It is a different test for the Adelaide hosts. They must manage the pressure of cooking three courses while their guests argue over the meal. The food still decides whether Last Orders can overtake the opening restaurant.
