Tonight | 7NEWS Spotlight on Channel 7: seven stars mark 70 years of Seven – Michael Usher brings seven familiar faces together for 70 Years of Seven at 8.00pm on Sunday 11 October 2026. The special is also available on 7plus.
Seven began broadcasting in 1956, and the programme arrives on the eve of its 70th birthday. It is a chance to hear the people behind some of the network’s defining moments reflect on what Australian audiences have watched together.
Who joins Michael Usher?
Bruce McAvaney, Georgie Parker, Larry Emdur, Sonia Kruger, Johanna Griggs, Natalie Barr and Effie join Usher for the anniversary special. Their recollections are paired with rare archival footage and unseen bloopers, spanning entertainment, news, sport and live events.
The mix of personalities reflects how much ground the network has covered since 1956: household-name television, major live broadcasts and the stories that brought viewers back to Channel 7. The anniversary gives those moments a common frame without turning the evening into a single-show reunion.
