The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 3 trailer – Prime Video has released the full trailer for the fantasy drama’s third season, turning the struggle against Sauron into an all-out war for Middle-earth. The first four episodes arrive in Australia on 11 November 2026, with the remaining four released across the following two Wednesdays.

For Australian viewers, the trailer is more than a first look at new battles. Prime Video has also confirmed the complete eight-episode release pattern, so the season will run from 11 to 25 November rather than dropping in one batch. All 16 episodes from seasons one and two are available now for anyone catching up before the premiere.

Five years have passed since the fall of Eregion. Sauron’s armies have swept across Middle-earth, leaving only isolated centres of resistance. In Mordor’s Barad-dûr, he works towards the weapon that could secure his victory: the One Ring.

Galadriel warns that the conflict has led to this moment as the trailer shows Elves, Dwarves, Númenoreans and Wizards facing Sauron’s forces. His black-clad Ring-servants also appear as the stakes rise across Middle-earth.

What happens in The Rings of Power season three?

Khazad-dûm’s Dwarves have sealed themselves deep within their mountain halls, where family bonds come under pressure. The Elven realms of Lindon and Rivendell hold out behind the protection of their Three Rings, while their fighters struggle to defend the front lines elsewhere.

Meanwhile, political factions threaten to push Númenor towards civil war. In the eastern lands of Rhûn, Gandalf draws on his magic and persuasion to resist the approaching darkness. These separate fronts must find a way to unite before Sauron finishes the One Ring and brings the free peoples under his control.

The series remains set in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Second Age, thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. That setting allows the drama to follow the rise and fall of kingdoms and the forging of the rings whose consequences echo through the later stories.

Australian release dates and episode rollout

Prime Video has confirmed the following season-three schedule for Australian audiences:

18 November 2026 Episodes 5–6
25 November 2026 Episodes 7–8, the season finale

Prime Video has not specified an Australian release hour in this announcement. The dates above are the service’s stated local rollout, not a television broadcast schedule.

Who is making season three?

J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay continue as showrunners and executive producers. Lindsey Weber, Kate Hazell and Justin Doble also executive produce, alongside executive producer-director Charlotte Brändström. Matthew Penry-Davey is producer, with Ally O’Leary Cantrell, Tim Keene and Andrew Lee serving as co-producers.

The first two seasons remain exclusive to Prime Video, with eight episodes in each. Their availability gives viewers the complete story so far before the new war reaches its November climax.
