The Greatest trailer follows Muhammad Ali before Prime Video premiere – Prime Video has unveiled the official trailer for The Greatest, its authorised drama about Muhammad Ali’s early life. All eight episodes arrive in Australia on Wednesday, 4 November 2026.
The Australian release is part of a simultaneous rollout across more than 240 countries and territories. Rather than beginning with Ali as an established global icon, the trailer follows young Cassius Clay through the personal, professional and political battles that shaped him inside and outside the boxing ring.
Set against a changing America, the series traces Clay’s journey from Louisville to championship success and his emergence as Muhammad Ali. It connects the fights that made him famous with the convictions that defined his public life. Prime Video describes it as the first authorised scripted series about Ali, with his widow Lonnie Ali among its executive producers.

Who plays Muhammad Ali in The Greatest?
Newcomer Jaalen Best plays Cassius Clay and Muhammad Ali. Omari Hardwick portrays his father, Cassius Clay Sr., with Dana Gourrier as his mother, Odessa “Bird” Clay. Kai Parham plays his brother Rudy Clay.
The supporting cast places several figures from Clay’s boxing and political life alongside his family. Amin Joseph plays rival Sonny Liston, Giovanni Ribisi portrays trainer Angelo Dundee and Michael Ealy plays Malcolm X.
The team behind the authorised drama
Ben Watkins created The Greatest and serves as showrunner and executive producer. His Blue Monday Productions is involved alongside Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society, Authentic Studios, Roc Nation, Shawn Carter, Polygram Entertainment and Grace: A Storytelling Company.
Outlier Society president Elizabeth Raposo is an executive producer, as are Authentic Brands Group’s Corey Salter, Matthew Gross and Marc Rosen. The executive-producer team also includes Craig Siebels, Aiyana White, Jeff Augustin, Katie Wech, Owen Shiflett, Boyd Muir, Michele Anthony, Josh Wakely and Desiree Perez. David Blackman and Stefano Agosto are co-executive producers.
Lonnie Ali’s involvement distinguishes the project from an unauthorised retelling, although viewers will still be able to judge how the finished drama handles Ali’s life. The trailer focuses on his formative years and the relationships that surrounded his rise.
When does The Greatest start in Australia?
All eight episodes of The Greatest premiere exclusively on Prime Video in Australia on Wednesday, 4 November 2026. The announcement does not describe a weekly release schedule; the full season is set to arrive at once.
