Prime Video releases first look images for Carrie – Prime Video has released the first look images from its upcoming Original series Carrie.
The new series is based on Stephen King’s iconic debut novel. It is described as a bold and timely reinvention of the coming-of-age story, adapted for television for the first time by showrunner Mike Flanagan.
Carrie will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide this spring.
A New Take On Carrie White
The series follows misfit high-schooler Carrie White, played by Summer Howell. Carrie has spent her life hidden at home with her fiercely protective mother, Margaret, played by Samantha Sloyan.
After her father’s sudden death forces her into public high school, Carrie must navigate bullying, the pressure of the social-media age and the awakening of mysterious telekinetic powers.
Prime Video says the eight-episode series expands King’s landmark story by deepening its characters and tensions. It follows the choices that build toward a single shattering night.
Cast And Creative Team
Howell was cast as Carrie White after an extensive search that saw more than 1,000 actors read for the role.
The ensemble also includes Siena Agudong as Sue Snell, Alison Thornton as Chris Hargensen, Joel Oulette as Tommy Ross, Josie Tota as Tina, Arthur Conti as Billy, Thalia Dudek as Emaline, Amber Midthunder as Miss Desjardin and Matthew Lillard as Principal Grayle.
Flanagan writes and executive produces the series. He also directs four episodes. Stephen King also serves as executive producer, with Amazon MGM Studios producing.
Stephen King’s Debut Novel
King’s novel Carrie was first published in 1974. It launched a career in which his books have sold more than 350 million copies worldwide.
The novel spent 14 weeks on The New York Times Best Seller list and has been translated into more than 35 languages.
Brian De Palma’s 1976 film adaptation helped cement the story’s cultural impact. This year marks the film’s 50th anniversary.
