Prime Video unveils trailer for Legally Blonde prequel Elle ahead of July premiere – Prime Video has released the official trailer and key art for Elle, the highly anticipated prequel series exploring the teenage years of one of pop culture’s most iconic characters, Elle Woods.
The eight-episode first season premieres globally on 1 July, exclusively on Prime Video, with Australian fans also set to welcome the series’ star, Lexi Minetree, as part of an international promotional tour.
Set in 1995, Elle takes viewers back to high school, long before Elle Woods became the fashionable law student audiences first met in Legally Blonde. The series follows Elle as she navigates complicated friendships, first love and the everyday challenges of adolescence.
At the centre of the story is Elle’s close relationship with her mother, Eva, highlighting the family bonds that help shape the determined and optimistic woman audiences have come to know and love.

A new chapter for an iconic character
Created by Laura Kittrell (High School, Insecure), Elle serves as an origin story for the beloved character originally portrayed by Reese Witherspoon.
Kittrell co-showruns the series alongside Caroline Dries, with both also serving as executive producers. Witherspoon executive produces through Hello Sunshine alongside Lauren Neustadter, Amanda Brown, Marc Platt and Brad Van Arragon.
Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect) directed the first two episodes and also executive produces.
Prime Video has already signalled confidence in the series, confirming a second season order ahead of the show’s debut.
Lexi Minetree leads the cast
Lexi Minetree steps into the role of young Elle Woods, joined by June Diane Raphael as Elle’s mother Eva and Tom Everett Scott as her father Wyatt.
The supporting cast includes Jacob Moskovitz, Gabrielle Policano, Chandler Kinney, Zac Looker and Amy Pietz.
Recurring cast members include Brad Harder, Chloe Wepper, Danielle Chand, David Burtka, James Van Der Beek, Jessica Belkin, Kayla Maisonet, Lisa Yamada, Logan Shroyer, Matt Oberg and Sharon Taylor.
Australian fans to celebrate with Sydney event
In a boost for local fans, Prime Video has confirmed Minetree will visit Australia in July as the final stop on the series’ global launch tour.
The Sydney visit will celebrate both the debut of Elle and the enduring legacy of Legally Blonde, which marks its 25th anniversary this year. The tour will include a special launch event attended by Minetree, offering fans and media an opportunity to step into the world of Elle Woods.
Meanwhile, Prime Video will also host “Elle World” in New York City, a one-day immersive fan experience featuring themed activations, exclusive merchandise and interactive experiences inspired by the franchise.
