Robert Irwin to host the 2026 TV WEEK Logie Awards – Robert Irwin has been announced as the host of the 66th TV WEEK Logie Awards, marking one of the biggest shake-ups for Australian television’s night of nights in recent years.
Seven confirmed on Wednesday that the wildlife conservationist and international television personality will lead this year’s ceremony, which takes place on Sunday, 16 August, at The Star Sydney.
The awards will air live and exclusive on Seven and 7plus.
Irwin’s appointment comes at a significant moment for the Australian television industry, with 2026 marking 70 years since the launch of television in Australia.
A new era for the Logies
While best known for continuing the conservation legacy of his father, Steve Irwin, Robert has increasingly built a successful career in entertainment, establishing himself as one of Australia’s most recognisable young stars.
His growing international profile has seen him expand into presenting roles and major television appearances, making him a natural choice to helm the country’s biggest celebration of television.
Speaking about the announcement, Irwin said hosting the Logies was an opportunity he could not pass up.
“Hosting the TV WEEK Logie Awards is one of the most exciting things I’ve been asked to do,” Irwin said.
“Throughout my life, my goal has been to spread an important message not only through our work at Australia Zoo, but also on the screen.
“I grew up watching the Logies with my family, so this is certainly an honour. Australian television has given so much to so many people. To be part of the biggest night in Aussie TV is something I don’t take lightly. I cannot wait!”
Seven backs Irwin for TV’s biggest night
Seven’s Managing Director, Television and Streaming, Angus Ross, described Irwin as the ideal choice to lead the ceremony.
“Robert Irwin is one of the most exciting and sought-after stars on the planet right now,” Ross said.
“He has captured the hearts of audiences from Australia to America and everywhere in between; there is simply no one better to lead Australia’s biggest night of television.”
Celebrating 70 years of Australian television
The 2026 TV WEEK Logie Awards will also recognise a major milestone for the industry, celebrating seven decades of Australian television.
As part of the festivities, viewers are being invited to vote in the Top 70 Australian TV Shows of the Last 70 Years poll, with the results to be revealed during the ceremony. Voting remains open until Sunday, 21 June.
With one of Australia’s most recognisable personalities now set to take centre stage, this year’s Logies is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated editions of the awards in recent memory.
