Who The Hell Is Hamish? trailer reveals Paramount+ fraud drama – Paramount+ has released the official trailer for Australian original drama Who The Hell Is Hamish?, with all six episodes set to stream globally from Thursday 10 December.

Dominic Cooper leads the series as Hamish McLaren, while Claire van der Boom plays Bec, a recently divorced single mother whose growing doubts begin to expose a much larger pattern of deception. The drama is inspired by the true story of an industrial fraudster and the victims who joined forces to bring him down.

The production adds another high-profile Australian title to Paramount+’s local slate. It also brings together an extensive Australian ensemble, Screen Australia investment and production support from Queensland and the Gold Coast, while launching simultaneously to a global audience.

A new target brings Hamish back to Australia

Who The Hell Is Hamish? begins with McLaren returning to Australia from Canada. Rather than arriving as a man in exile, he comes back ready to survey his former territory and identify another opportunity.

His attention turns to Bec, who has three sons and access to a significant family trust. At first, McLaren appears to offer a fresh beginning. However, Bec starts to notice inconsistencies in his account of himself and behaviour that does not fit the identity he presents.

Those personal suspicions soon widen into an investigation of alleged deception across several countries. The series follows a trail suspected of leaving debts exceeding $70 million and focuses on the people who refused to let the story end with another victim.

The Australian team behind the six-part series

Five-time AACTA-winning writer and producer Adam Zwar created and wrote the drama. His previous television credits include Austin and Mr Black.

Jeffrey Walker directed the series after working across Australian and international productions including The Artful Dodger and Apple Cider Vinegar. Hoodlum Entertainment and CBS Studios produced the project for Paramount+.

Screen Australia provided major production investment. The series was financed with support from Paramount Australia and New Zealand, while the Queensland Government backed production through Screen Queensland’s Production Attraction Strategy and post, digital and visual-effects incentive. The City of Gold Coast also supported the project through its Screen Attraction Program.

Who The Hell Is Hamish? premieres globally with all six episodes on Thursday 10 December, exclusively on Paramount+.
