Netflix programming highlights for the week of 5 October 2026 – Ben Affleck and Kerry Washington’s thriller Animals leads a varied week on Netflix Australia. New arrivals also include Josh Hartnett’s coastal mystery Below, a Martin Mull documentary, returning Halloween favourites and live WWE action.
For Australian viewers, the week runs from Monday, 5 October to Sunday, 11 October. The releases move from family animation and a familiar horror film to new drama, documentary and reality competition. In addition, the live WWE times below are listed in AEDT, following the daylight-saving change in New South Wales.

Monday, 5 October
Super BOOMi: Season 1
BOOMi and his friends enter a virtual game universe of their own creation. The series sends them into new adventures built around imagination, teamwork and clever inventions. Winston Bromhead and Faith Graham are among the credited voices.
The Purge
The thriller joins the Netflix catalogue. Ethan Hawke and Lena Headey play parents whose family faces danger inside a supposedly secure gated community on the one night when violent crimes carry no legal consequences. The cast also includes Max Burkholder, Adelaide Kane, Edwin Hodge, Rhys Wakefield, Tony Oller, Arija Bareikis, Tom Yi and Chris Mulkey.
Wednesday, 7 October
Who Is Martin Mull?
The documentary looks beyond Martin Mull’s celebrated comedy career to his lifelong work as an artist. Star-studded interviews explore a creative life that extended well beyond stand-up and acting. Netflix has supplied an official trailer.
Thursday, 8 October
Below
In this new mystery, a sea creature begins terrorising a coastal town. A fisherman fights to protect his family and a vanishing way of life as the threat grows. Josh Hartnett stars alongside Mackenzie Davis and Charlie Heaton; Willow Kean, Ruby Stokes, Kaleb Horn, Rohan Campbell, Natasha Henstridge and Mary Walsh also appear.
Netflix describes Below as a limited series. Its official trailer offers a closer look at the coastal setting and unseen danger ahead of the Thursday premiere.
Friday, 9 October
Animals
Ben Affleck plays Mark Kimball, a Los Angeles mayoral candidate whose son is kidnapped. Mark and his wife Abigail, played by Kerry Washington, must raise the ransom while making decisions that could fracture their family. Affleck also co-wrote and directed the thriller, according to Netflix’s official programme information.
Gillian Anderson, Steven Yeun, Luis Gerardo Méndez, Adriana Paz, Ray Fisher and Matt Gerald are among the other cast members listed in the Australian release. The new trailer sets out the film’s political and family stakes.
Haunted Hotel: Season 2
Katherine and her family have begun to find a rhythm at their unusual hotel. However, new paranormal problems arrive, raising the question of whether a haunted property can ever feel like home. Will Forte, Eliza Coupe, Skyler Gisondo, Natalie Palamides and Jimmi Simpson return in the voice cast.
Is It Cake? Halloween: Season 2
Mikey Day hosts another seasonal edition of the cake-illusion competition. Six artists create Halloween-themed bakes designed to fool the judges, with the winner chasing the grand prize. A public sneak peek accompanies the new season.
Take Charge of My Heart
Kim Young-kwang and Chae Soo-bin star in this romance about a corporate heir with an artificial heart and a woman who is literally electric. Their arrangement makes his heart beat in more ways than one. Netflix has released an official trailer for the Friday premiere.
Sunday, 11 October and live WWE through the week
WWE Money in the Bank 2026 is listed for 9.00am AEDT on Sunday, 11 October. The ladder-match event gives its winner a contract for a future world-title opportunity.
Regular weekly WWE programming also continues live on Netflix. Raw is listed for Tuesdays at noon AEDT, NXT for Wednesdays at noon AEDT, and SmackDown for Saturdays at noon AEDT. Raw brings established stars and weekly rivalries, NXT focuses on emerging competitors, while SmackDown carries the blue brand’s in-ring stories.
