Sharon Horgan comedy Youth premieres on HBO Max in September – Sharon Horgan’s new HBO Original comedy series Youth will premiere on HBO Max on Monday, 21 September, with the first two episodes dropping together before the season continues weekly.

For Australian HBO Max subscribers, the series adds another high-profile comedy title to the platform’s September slate and gives Horgan, already well known for Bad Sisters and Catastrophe, another starring vehicle built around sharp adult character comedy.

The eight-episode season follows a 50-year-old divorcee searching for sex and love while caring for her ailing parents and parenting a son who should be fully grown up by now. The series will conclude with its season finale on Monday, 2 November.

Horgan stars as Alex, with Rupert Friend as Patrick, Sharlene Whyte as Sam, Aran Murphy as Ruari and Robbie Gee as Frank.

Youth is produced by Merman, the company behind Amandaland, Bad Sisters and Vladimir. Horgan writes, stars and executive produces, with Faye Dorn, Jim Kleverweis and Dawn Shadforth also executive producing. Shadforth directs the series.
