Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 trailer launches a perilous Disney+ quest – Disney+ has released the official trailer for the next chapter of its fantasy adventure, placing Percy Jackson and his friends in a race to rescue Annabeth Chase from the forces of Kronos.

The new season will premiere in Australia with two episodes on Friday, 20 November. Disney+ will then release two episodes each week, giving viewers a faster weekly schedule than the single-episode pattern used by many streaming dramas.

For Australian audiences, the trailer provides the clearest look yet at how the series will tackle The Titan’s Curse. It is the third novel in Rick Riordan’s bestselling book series and has never previously been adapted for the screen.

Annabeth’s disappearance drives the new quest

The story begins after Percy has completed two major quests with Annabeth. Her capture leaves him facing the prospect of continuing without the person who has been central to his survival and success.

Percy sets out to recover Annabeth before Kronos and his forces can advance their plans. The mission will require him to free a goddess in chains, confront the Titan’s curse and avoid setting off events that could bring about the fall of Olympus.

Grover Underwood joins Percy on the journey. However, the pair will also have to work with unlikely questmates as they confront a prophecy carrying potentially devastating consequences.

Returning heroes and new dangers

Walker Scobell returns as Percy Jackson, with Leah Sava’ Jeffries as Annabeth Chase and Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood. The principal cast also includes Charlie Bushnell, Tamara Smart and Levi Chrisopulos.

The trailer signals a darker and more dangerous phase for the young demigods. Rather than simply introducing another monster or destination, the new quest is personal for Percy and places the survival of one of the show’s core heroes at its centre.

The adaptation also moves the television series deeper into the mythology established across Riordan’s novels. The Titan’s Curse expands the conflict involving Kronos while introducing a prophecy that reshapes the heroes’ understanding of the threat facing Olympus.

The creative team behind Season 3

Rick Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg created the television series. Steinberg, Dan Shotz and Craig Silverstein executive produce the third season alongside Riordan and Rebecca Riordan.

The executive-producing team also includes The Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Jeremy Bell, plus Bert Salke, James Bobin, Jim Rowe, Albert Kim, Sarah Watson and Tamara Becher-Wilkinson. Jet Wilkinson serves as an executive producer on the season’s final two episodes.

The first two seasons remain available to stream on Disney+, allowing viewers to revisit Percy’s earlier quests before the two-episode Season 3 premiere.

PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS SEASON 3 – TWO-EPISODE PREMIERE FRIDAY 20 NOVEMBER ON DISNEY+, FOLLOWED BY TWO EPISODES WEEKLY.
