YAGA premiere screening: BINGE hosts stars at Restaurant Hubert’s Theatre Royale – BINGE tonight hosted a star-studded premiere screening and dinner for its new mystery thriller YAGA, ahead of the eight-part series premiering this Friday.
The intimate screening took place at Restaurant Hubert’s majestic Theatre Royale. It comes fresh from the series’ world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, and follows TV Central’s look at the YAGA trailer starring Carrie-Anne Moss.
Who attended the YAGA premiere screening?
Australian Idol alumni and musical theatre performer Rob Mills stepped out with his fiancée, Network Ten presenter Georgie Tunny. They were joined by Colin From Accounts and Return To Paradise actor Tai Hara, and I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! winner, comedian and former triple j presenter Concetta Caristo.
Home and Away actor Ryan Bown also attended. So did Australian Survivor winner Feras Basal and radio presenter Yaz Haddad, co-hosts of the I Said I’m Sorry podcast.
Media personality Flex Mami and comedian and digital creator Maddy MacRae were on the guest list. Meanwhile, Shayda star and AACTA-nominated actor Mojean Aria, and former triple j presenter Ash McGregor, also stepped out.
LiSTNR/SCA podcast host Justin Hill and Laura Brodnik, host of Mamamia’s The Spill podcast, were also among the guests.
What is YAGA about?
YAGA stars Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix), Noah Reid (Schitt’s Creek), Clark Backo (Letterkenny) and Hudson Williams (Heated Rivalry). The series has been praised for its unapologetically “steamy and spooky” reimagining of the myth of Baba Yaga.
It is based on the hit play by Kat Sandler, who also serves as writer, showrunner and executive producer. The series follows Rapp (Noah Reid), a private investigator who arrives in the small coastal town of Whittock.
He is there to investigate the disappearance of Henry Park (Hudson Williams), a young heir to a powerful fishery. However, he finds himself at odds with an apprehensive local detective, Carson (Clark Backo), and a charismatic university professor with a taste for younger men, Katherine (Carrie-Anne Moss). He also faces a labyrinth of enigmatic suspects, secret lives and ancient magic.
