Yaga trailer: Carrie-Anne Moss leads Binge mystery thriller – Carrie-Anne Moss is at the centre of a spellbinding new mystery in Yaga, an eight-part series that will begin streaming on Binge with a double-episode premiere on Friday 23 October.
The contemporary thriller reimagines the myth of Baba Yaga through a missing-person investigation in the coastal town of Whittock. Moss stars alongside Noah Reid, Clark Backo and Hudson Williams, with the new trailer introducing a community shaped by secrecy, suspicion and ancient magic.
For Australian viewers, the release gives Yaga a clearly defined weekly run rather than a full-season drop. Episodes one and two arrive together at 6pm AEDT, episodes three to six follow weekly, and the story concludes with a double-episode finale on 27 November.

The official trailer follows private investigator Rapp, played by Reid, as he arrives in Whittock to investigate the disappearance of Henry Park, a young heir to a powerful local fishery. The case quickly draws him into conflict with people who appear to know more than they are prepared to reveal.
Rapp finds himself at odds with Carson, an apprehensive local detective played by Backo. He also encounters Moss’s Katherine, a charismatic university professor whose connections to the town complicate an already unsettling investigation.
Williams plays the missing Henry Park. As Rapp searches for answers, the series opens up a labyrinth of enigmatic suspects, private lives and supernatural possibilities, leaving the investigator to decide which clues belong to a crime and which point towards something older.
Carrie-Anne Moss heads an ensemble cast
Moss, best known for The Matrix films, leads an ensemble that brings together performers from drama, comedy and genre television. Reid joins the series after Schitt’s Creek, while Backo is known for Letterkenny and Williams stars in Heated Rivalry.
The supporting cast includes Sheila McCarthy, Megan Follows, Ezra Franky, Patrick Gilmore, Katharine Isabelle and Hiro Kanagawa. Emilija Baranac, Georgia Acken, Anisa Harris and Sam Krochmal also appear across the eight episodes.
That broad ensemble suits a story built around a town full of possible explanations. Each character can add another version of events, allowing the mystery to move between the disappearance at its centre and the long-held beliefs surrounding Whittock.
Yaga adapts Kat Sandler’s stage play
Yaga is based on the acclaimed play by Kat Sandler, who serves as the television adaptation’s writer, showrunner and executive producer. The story uses the figure of Baba Yaga as the foundation for a modern mystery rather than presenting the folklore as a straightforward period retelling.
David Frazee and Rachel Talalay serve as co-directors. Talalay’s genre credits include episodes of Doctor Who, Riverdale and The Flash, while Frazee has worked extensively as a director and cinematographer across Canadian television.
Mackenzie Donaldson, Andrew Miller and Moss are executive producers alongside Sandler. Charles Cooper serves as producer.
Production and international rollout
Blink49 Studios and Front Street Pictures produce Yaga in association with Bell Media. The production also has the participation of the Canada Media Fund, the Rogers Series Fund and the Bell Fund.
Sphere Abacus, a Bell Media company, handles international distribution. Foxtel Group acquired the series for Australia, with other deals covering AMC+ in the United States, Sky in the United Kingdom, Ireland and New Zealand, and HBO Max across Europe excluding the UK and Ireland.
In Australia, the double-episode premiere will be available on Binge and Foxtel On Demand from 6pm AEDT on 23 October. Foxtel customers can also watch the two episodes on Showcase from 8.30pm AEDT that night.
Yaga premieres with two episodes at 6pm AEDT on Friday 23 October on Binge and Foxtel On Demand. New episodes stream weekly before the double-episode finale on 27 November.
