Foxtel Group Pays Tribute to Sam Neill – Foxtel Group CEO Patrick Delany has paid tribute to Sam Neill, remembering the actor as a pioneer of Australian screen.
Neill has died at the age of 78. His passing has prompted tributes across the film and television industry, including from colleagues and companies connected to his long career.
In a statement issued on 13 July 2026, Delany said Neill’s contribution to cinema and television had left an indelible mark on the industry.
“We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Sam Neill, a true pioneer of Australian screen,” Delany said.
Delany also remembered Neill as a long-time friend of the Foxtel Group. He said Neill first worked with the company as a FOXTEL ambassador.
More recently, Neill led the cast across three seasons of the BINGE Original series The Twelve. His role in the courtroom drama became one of his major late-career Australian television performances.

In The Twelve, Neill played Brett Colby, a senior barrister at the centre of the acclaimed Australian drama.
The series helped introduce Neill to a new streaming audience while also drawing on the authority, warmth and quiet intensity that defined so much of his screen work.
Delany said Neill’s talent, generosity and contribution to Australian screens would be deeply missed by those who worked with him.
He also acknowledged the many cast and crew members who worked alongside Neill over the years, saying this was a difficult time for the actor’s family, friends and colleagues.
The Foxtel Group extended its thoughts to Neill’s family, friends, colleagues and the wider screen community.
