SPA Pays Tribute to Sam Neill – Screen Producers Australia has paid tribute to Sam Neill, describing the actor as one of the screen industry’s most respected and enduring talents.
Neill has died at the age of 78. His death has prompted tributes across the screen industry, with SPA recognising a career that stretched across more than five decades.
Across film and television, Neill helped bring Australian and New Zealand stories to audiences at home and around the world.
SPA highlighted his work in My Brilliant Career, Evil Angels, Dead Calm, The Dish, The Piano, The Pacific: In The Wake Of Captain Cook and The Twelve.
He also achieved worldwide recognition through major international productions, including Jurassic Park.
SPA Remembers Sam Neill
SPA CEO Matthew Deaner said Neill was one of the great figures of Australian and New Zealand screen.
“His extraordinary talent and professionalism enriched countless productions and inspired generations of filmmakers and performers,” Deaner said.
Deaner said Australian producers were privileged to work with Neill on many landmark productions. He added that Neill’s contribution to screen culture was immeasurable.
SPA extended its condolences to Neill’s family, friends and colleagues.
