Prodigies on Apple TV: Will Sharpe and Ayo Edebiri lead new romantic comedy – Apple TV has revealed the first images from Prodigies, a seven-episode romantic comedy led by Will Sharpe and Ayo Edebiri. The series will premiere in Australia on Wednesday 10 February 2027 with two episodes, followed by a new episode each Wednesday through 17 March.
The first look introduces a relationship with an unusually long history. Didi and Ren were child prodigies and have been together since they were nine. Now in their 30s, they are questioning whether the lives they built together match the promise others saw in them as children. Rather than beginning with a new romance, the series examines what happens when a familiar one meets adult disappointment and ambition.
What is Prodigies about?
Edebiri plays Didi and Sharpe plays Ren. Their story moves from London to Tokyo via Virginia as the couple reconsiders their shared past, ordinary present and possible futures. Apple describes the series as an unconventional romantic comedy about potential, ambition and the complications of a long-term relationship.
The newly released images show the pair together at night and offer glimpses of the wider story, including a classroom scene. They provide the first visual sense of the show’s tone ahead of its February debut.

Will Sharpe and Ayo Edebiri lead the cast
Sharpe created, wrote and directed Prodigies. He also executive produces and stars. His screen credits include The White Lotus and A Real Pain. Edebiri, known for The Bear and Bottoms, co-stars and executive produces.
The ensemble also includes John Malkovich, Tobias Menzies, Yumi Asō, Maria Bakalova and Sophia Di Martino. Rina Sawayama, Reece Shearsmith, Dame Meera Syal and Andrene Ward-Hammond round out the announced cast. Apple has not detailed each supporting character’s role.

Who is making Prodigies?
Emmy and BAFTA Award-winning SISTER Pictures produces the series. Naomi De Pear, whose credits include This Is Going to Hurt and Flowers, executive produces for SISTER alongside Katie Carpenter and Jane Featherstone. Sharpe executive produces for Fukuda Films, while Edebiri is also an executive producer.
Apple TV will launch the first two of the seven episodes on 10 February 2027. Five weekly instalments follow, bringing the season to its conclusion on 17 March. Apple has not announced an Australian release time or a trailer in this first-look announcement.
