Apple TV October 2026 highlights – New films The Last First: Winter K2, Matchbox The Movie and Tenzing join returning series The Sisters Grimm and Where’s Wanda? in Apple TV’s October line-up.
Seven currently announced titles span documentary, family adventure, comedy, action and crime drama. The schedule begins with two releases on 2 October and closes with the new thriller Nocturne on 30 October.
The month gives Australian viewers a particularly film-heavy run. Three original features arrive within the first half of October, while four series provide family, comedy and crime options around them.
The Last First: Winter K2 – 2 October
Director Amir Bar-Lev’s The Last First: Winter K2 follows a harrowing 2021 expedition to one of mountaineering’s most dangerous environments.
Icelander John Snorri Sigurjónsson and Pakistani father-and-son climbers Ali and Sajid Sadpara attempt to become the first people to summit K2 during winter, when its conditions are at their most severe.
They share the ascent with influencer climbers and film crews, commercial expedition clients and a Nepalese team no longer willing to help Western climbers take all the glory. The documentary uses the climb to examine strategy, determination, class, caste, money and power under life-and-death pressure.
The Sisters Grimm season two – 2 October
The Sisters Grimm returns for its second season on the same day. The series follows Sabrina and Daphne Grimm, sleuthing sisters descended from the Brothers Grimm.
One year after their parents mysteriously disappeared, the sisters continue uncovering the secrets of Ferryport Landing. In their world, fairy tales and fairy-tale creatures are real, bringing new mysteries and adventures for the pair to solve together.
Small Prophets season two – 7 October
Small Prophets centres on the eccentric Michael Sleep, played by Pearce Quigley. Since Clea disappeared seven years earlier, Michael has kept to an ordinary routine: working in a DIY store, visiting his father Brian and hoping that Clea will return.
Brian, played by Sir Michael Palin, gives Michael an old recipe involving rainwater, horse manure and alchemy. Michael follows it to create homunculi, magical spirits that can predict the future, hoping they can answer the question that has defined his life: will he ever see Clea again?
Matchbox The Movie – 9 October
Inspired by Mattel’s Matchbox toys, Matchbox The Movie is a globe-spanning action adventure about a group of lifelong friends.
Their lives are disrupted when Sean, their long-absent former leader, returns to their small town. Sean, played by John Cena, is now an undercover CIA agent, and his arrival pulls the group into a frantic international pursuit to save the world.
Tenzing – 16 October
Based on true events, Tenzing chronicles the story of gifted Himalayan climber Tenzing Norgay, played by Genden Phuntsok. Alongside New Zealand mountaineer Edmund Hillary, played by Tom Hiddleston, Tenzing became one of the first two people confirmed to reach the summit of Mount Everest.
Tenzing is encouraged by his wife Dawa, played by Thinley Lhamo, and finds an ally in expedition secretary Jill Henderson, played by Caitríona Balfe. Together, they persuade Colonel John Hunt, played by Willem Dafoe, that Tenzing belongs on the British climbing team rather than merely serving it.
The film contrasts the Western desire to conquer Everest with Tenzing’s reverence for Chomolungma as a sacred mother goddess. The climb is shaped by class, background and competing ambitions, but mutual trust ultimately binds Tenzing and Hillary together.
Award-winning filmmaker Jennifer Peedom directs. Luke Davies wrote the screenplay, with Peedom and Davies sharing story credit. Peedom, Davies, Liz Watts and Emile Sherman serve as producers.
Where’s Wanda? season two – 21 October
The German-language dark comedy Where’s Wanda? returns for a second season. Dedo and Carlotta Klatt remain desperate to locate their 17-year-old daughter Wanda, who disappeared without a trace.
When police fail to find her, the family takes matters into its own hands. With help from their tech-savvy son Ole, Dedo and Carlotta obtain surveillance equipment and pose as electrical workers.
Their operation expands from their immediate neighbours to half the suburb. As they listen in, the family discovers that the people around them are rarely who they claim to be.
Nocturne – 30 October
Nocturne stars Liev Schreiber as Jonah Lynn, an ex-soldier turned homicide detective. Worn down by Philadelphia’s streets, Jonah moves to a small town in western Pennsylvania in search of a quieter life.
That peace ends when the cunning serial killer Jurek Walter, played by Stephen Graham, attacks the town and Jonah’s family. The desperate search for Jurek’s final missing victim forces Jonah to send his surrogate daughter, FBI agent Saga Bauer, played by Zazie Beetz, into danger.
The central question becomes how far Jonah will go to protect the people he loves while bringing the killer to justice.
