Triple M names 2026 NRL Grand Final call team for Knights v Roosters – Dan Ginnane will lead Triple M’s national call of Sunday’s 2026 NRL Grand Final between the Newcastle Knights and Sydney Roosters, joined by James Graham, Ben Dobbin and Ryan Girdler.
The network is also offering a separate Newcastle call for the Knights’ supporters. That local option recognises the scale of the club’s turnaround: the Knights have gone from wooden spooners to their first Grand Final since 2001.
Triple M Newcastle’s commentary team comprises Jim Callinan, Andrew “Bobcat” Ryan, Andrew Renfrew and Newcastle premiership coach Michael Hagan. Hit106.9 Newcastle will instead carry the national Triple M call. Both options sit within a broader day of coverage on the Triple M Network and LiSTNR.
Grand Final day on Triple M
The build-up begins at noon with The Sunday Sin Bin. Dobbin, Graham, Gorden Tallis and Brent Read will discuss the selection calls, talking points and storylines before the decider.
At 3.30pm, Triple M will call the NRLW Grand Final between the Sydney Roosters and Brisbane Broncos. Anthony Maroon, Aaron Woods, David Riccio and Emma Verran are named for that match. It will also be Millie Elliott’s final game for the Roosters, with the club aiming for a premiership double on Grand Final day.
The NRL Grand Final call begins at 6.30pm. National listeners will hear Ginnane, Graham, Girdler and Dobbin, while Triple M Newcastle provides its local commentary team for Knights fans. All times are Sydney local time on Sunday, 4 October.
Newcastle’s Grand Final build-up
Triple M Newcastle’s Tanya & Steve broadcast live from The Greenroof Hotel on Friday morning. According to the network, hundreds of listeners attended as the city prepared for the Knights’ first appearance in the season decider in 25 years.
SCA Head of Sports Content – Audio Ewan Giles said the network would follow the game from pre-match debate through the NRLW and NRL Grand Finals. The two-call arrangement lets listeners choose a national commentary team or a distinctly Newcastle perspective on the Knights’ shot at a premiership.
The coverage is available across Triple M radio stations and through LiSTNR, live or on demand where offered. For more rugby league coverage, visit TV Central’s NRL section, and find the audio service at LiSTNR.
