Luke Keary Says ‘No One Is Coming To Save’ NSW Ahead Of State Of Origin Decider – Former New South Wales State of Origin representative Luke Keary believes wholesale changes to the Blues squad won’t make a difference ahead of the State of Origin decider, insisting the outcome will come down to belief and mentality.
Speaking on The Agenda Setters: Rugby League, Keary dismissed calls for sweeping changes to Laurie Daley’s side following their defeat in Game II, saying there is “no one coming to save them”.
“You know what? It doesn’t matter,” Keary said.
“I agree. It does not matter who they pick. Everyone’s saying they’ve got to put this bloke in. It doesn’t matter who goes up there.
“It matters about when they get into camp, that the coach gets them together and makes them believe that they need to die for that jersey, die for the cause, and they’ll do anything to win that game.”
Keary said the Blues already have some of the game’s best players at their disposal and that personnel changes alone won’t determine the result at Suncorp Stadium.
“It doesn’t matter who you put in there. There’s no one coming to save them. There’s no one saving you,” he said.
Former Blues forward Aaron Woods agreed with Keary’s assessment, suggesting the deciding factor would be the players’ mindset.
“You’re basically saying it’s between the ears. No one’s saving you,” Woods said.
Keary responded: “Yes, it is. You know that better than anyone.
“They’ve got the best players in the game. It matters when you turn up to Suncorp, do you believe that you’re going to win that game? Are you going to do anything?”
Keary’s comments came during a discussion alongside Corey Parker, David Riccio and Aaron Woods as the panel tackled the biggest issues in rugby league ahead of the State of Origin decider.
The Agenda Setters: Rugby League airs on Seven and streams on 7plus.
