The Agenda Setters: Rugby League on Channel 7 and 7plus: Corey Parker Says Brian To’o’s NSW Days Are Done – Corey Parker has declared that Brian To’o’s time in a New South Wales jersey is over, following Laurie Daley’s decision to drop the Panthers winger.
Speaking on The Agenda Setters: Rugby League, Parker said the call sends a clear message about the direction Daley wants to take.
“That’s it for Brian To’o. His days in a blue jersey are done.”
Luke Keary suggested the decision may simply be a coach drawing a line and moving in a new direction.
“Sometimes the coach has put his foot down and say we’re going a different direction.”
Parker then questioned what the selection call means for Jack Bostock, particularly if New South Wales does not get the result in Queensland.
“Because the reality of it is, now hypothetically, if they go up to Queensland and don’t get the job done and for whatever reason Queensland are dominant. Well then what does that say to Jack Bostock? See you later. One and done.”
Aaron Woods said that is the reality of Origin football. He also pointed to Daley needing to back his instincts if he believes Bostock offers the aerial threat New South Wales needs.
“All the talk is this is going to be Laurie’s last Origin game. He’s got to go out and just throw the kitchen sink at it and if he thinks To’o’s not the right man for the job and he wants to be the aerial threat in Jack Bostock, well he’s got to back that.”
However, Parker said Bostock will also need to deliver the hard work To’o has made a trademark of his game.
“The other thing Jack Bostock’s got to do is he’s got to come up with 20 runs coming out of his backfield because that’s certainly something that Brian To’o is able to do.”
