Santos Tour Down Under stays on Channel 7 in multi-year broadcast deal – Channel 7 and 7plus will continue to show the Santos Tour Down Under live and free across Australia after Seven secured a new multi-year agreement for exclusive domestic coverage of the cycling event.

The renewal matters particularly for 2027. The men’s and women’s races will overlap on three days and use the same course and distance on each of those days. Seven says each race will have its own live broadcast in full, so viewers will not have to rely on highlights from one event while watching the other. The detailed channel and 7plus stage guide is still to come.

When is the 2027 Santos Tour Down Under?

The men’s race will run over six stages from Tuesday, 19 January to Sunday, 24 January 2027. The three-stage women’s race will run from Friday, 22 January to Sunday, 24 January. Both competitions will conclude over a final weekend featuring Willunga and Stirling in South Australia.

The event says 2027 will be the first time a men’s and women’s race has been staged over the same distance on the same day. Its published 2027 stage guide shows the shared final three routes, including the run to Victor Harbor on Friday, Willunga Hill on Saturday and Stirling on Sunday. That gives the broadcast deal a clearer purpose than simply retaining an existing sports property: it commits Seven to carrying two simultaneous races without cutting either one short.

How to watch on Channel 7 and 7plus

Seven says every stage of both races will be screened live and in its entirety across its television channels and 7plus. Coverage is set to begin at 10.30am for the men’s race and 12.10pm for the women’s race. It has not yet specified a time zone or published a market-by-market channel guide, so viewers should check the confirmed schedule closer to the event.

The two races will have separate broadcasts when they run on the same day. Seven and the event also promise dedicated specialist commentary teams, roadside updates and separate motorbike and helicopter camera coverage for each race. The precise channel and streaming allocation for every stage, along with the 2027 commentary line-ups, will be announced closer to January.

That distinction is important for Australian viewers who want to follow the women’s race from start to finish. It also leaves one practical question open for now: which Seven channel or 7plus stream will carry each event at a given time. The agreement confirms coverage, but not the final daily viewing grid.

Seven’s Tour Down Under partnership continues

Seven’s association with the Santos Tour Down Under began in 2019. The previous broadcast renewal had already expanded the commitment to full women’s race coverage, and this latest agreement extends the relationship into a new format for the event.

Race Director Stuart O’Grady said full coverage of each race was central to the 2027 format:

“Central to holding men’s and women’s races on the same days next year was ensuring it continues to deliver on our commitment to broadcasting both races in full, and this model will ensure we reach as many cycling fans as possible.”

He added that the ongoing Seven partnership would showcase South Australia and its season-opening UCI WorldTour event to audiences beyond the roadside crowds.

Seven Network Head of Sport – Digital Kirsty Bradmore said the network remained committed to making the Tour available live and free on Seven and 7plus. She also confirmed that the full broadcast schedule and commentary team announcements would follow.

The event’s international reach remains significant, although the Seven agreement concerns Australian rights. In 2026, the races reached 190 international markets and generated almost 1,400 hours of broadcast coverage. International partners will again have access to the men’s and women’s races.
