SCA claims 42nd straight 25–54 radio survey win as Triple M grows – Southern Cross Austereo says its combined radio networks have topped the metro 25–54 demographic for a 42nd consecutive survey. The claim comes from GfK Radio 360 Survey 6, 2026, in a release that also details movement for Triple M and the Hit Network around the country.

The headline needs its demographic qualification. This is a commercial radio network result among listeners aged 25–54, not a claim that SCA topped every station or all listeners in every market. For readers following the broader Southern Cross Media group after its Seven West Media merger, the figures also show why audio remains a prominent part of the combined business.

What the national figures show

SCA says the Hit and Triple M networks, combined with ACE Radio, captured a 37.5% commercial share among people aged 25–54. It puts its national reach at 9.26 million Australians. That reach figure draws on several metro and regional surveys, rather than one uniform national poll.

Within the key age bracket, SCA says Triple M has led among men aged 25–54 for 30 surveys in a row. The Hit Network has led women aged 25–54 for six consecutive surveys. SCA also claims Triple M finished the 2026 AFL and NRL seasons as the top audio broadcaster for their respective surveyed match windows; those sports claims use separate GfK broadcast-period figures.

Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth

Adelaide remains a particular strength for Triple M. Roo, Ditts & Loz recorded a 14.3% Breakfast share, according to the release. SCA says the programme has led the market in 28 of the past 29 surveys, more than two share points ahead of its nearest rival this time. The Rush Hour with JB & Billy retained Adelaide’s top Drive position for a fourth consecutive survey.

In Melbourne, Triple M’s all-people share rose 1.2 percentage points to 7.3%. Its Mick in the Morning with Roo, Titus & Rosie Breakfast show increased 1.1 points to 6.5%. Across at 101.9 The Fox, Fifi, Fev & Nick reached a 9.2% Breakfast share, up 0.3 points. SCA says The Fox also improved across Mornings, Afternoons and Drive.

In Perth, Triple M’s Xav & Katie rose 0.8 points to a 12.2% Breakfast share, ranking second. The station recorded 246,000 Breakfast listeners, which SCA describes as its strongest Breakfast audience since Survey 8 in 2020. The release also places Mix94.5 second among Perth stations.

Brisbane and Sydney

SCA’s two Brisbane FM stations occupied the top two station and Breakfast positions in its account of the survey. Triple M led FM stations with an 11.3% share, up 0.4 points. Marto, Margaux & Dan topped Breakfast on 13.6%, a 1.9-point increase. B105’s Stav, Abby & Matt followed with a 12.5% Breakfast share.

In Sydney, Nath & Emma on 2DayFM rose to 4.9% in Breakfast, the programme’s fourth consecutive survey gain. SCA says Triple M’s Beau Ryan, Cat & Woodsy also grew its Breakfast share, though the release does not provide the show’s new figure. It credits the 2DayFM team’s recent content and community initiatives, including a Guinness World Record and Really Cool Ride to School.

SCA’s response and survey basis

Head of Broadcast Content Matthew O’Reilly said the networks were heading into the year’s final survey period with momentum. He linked the gains to consistent programming and giving teams time to build audiences, and singled out Sydney and Brisbane Breakfast for progress.

John Kelly, Southern Cross Media Group’s Managing Director, Audio, said the result strengthened SCA’s pitch to advertisers seeking 25–54 listeners. He pointed to its metro and regional scale, live sport, and content including The Underdogs, Triple M 1000 and the recently announced Triple M Racing.

The network, programme and share comparisons above are SCA’s interpretation of GfK Radio 360 Metro Survey 6, 2026. Its national reach estimate combines that survey with Canberra Survey 3, Gold Coast and Newcastle Survey 2, and Xtra Insights regional market surveys available by 8 October. The AFL and NRL claims use specified match broadcast windows in the relevant metro markets. Those different bases matter when comparing one headline figure with another.
