Blue Ant Media restructures global business to boost content monetisation — Blue Ant Media has announced a major organisational realignment aimed at accelerating growth and maximising the value of its expanding content portfolio across international markets.
The company will combine its Global Channels & Streaming and Rights operations into a new unified division, Blue Ant Rights & Streaming, bringing together content distribution, rights strategy, streaming platforms and audience monetisation under one leadership structure.
Blue Ant Media CEO Michael MacMillan said the changes reflected the company’s evolving global footprint.
“As our content portfolio, customer relationships, and distribution footprint have grown significantly, it became clear that a more unified approach to content monetization would enable us to better capitalize on opportunities across platforms and markets.
This structure gives us greater visibility across the content lifecycle, enabling us to better serve our partners, unlock greater value from our content across platforms and territories, and capitalize on opportunities in a rapidly evolving media landscape.”
New leadership structure unveiled
Under the new structure, Blue Ant Media will operate across three key business segments.
Blue Ant Rights & Streaming will be led by Mark Bishop in the newly created role of Chief Monetization Officer, overseeing global content distribution, rights strategy, streaming services, audience growth and monetisation.
Matt Hornburg has been appointed Chief Content Officer of Blue Ant Studios, where he will oversee content strategy, development and production across both owned intellectual property and service work. Mitch Dent will continue as President of Canadian Media, leading the company’s Canadian broadcasting, consumer shows and publishing businesses.
The company said the closer alignment between its rights and studios divisions would allow it to respond more effectively to market demand and maximise opportunities across both owned and partner platforms.
Carlyn Staudt to depart Blue Ant Media
As part of the changes, Carlyn Staudt, President of Global Channels & Streaming, will leave Blue Ant Media at the end of the northern summer following a transition period.
During her tenure, Staudt played a significant role in expanding Blue Ant’s international channels and streaming business, including growing the reach of its content across pay television, subscription streaming services, FAST channels and YouTube. She also helped establish Love Nature as a leading wildlife and nature brand and contributed to the company’s recent acquisition of MagellanTV.
MacMillan paid tribute to Staudt’s contribution to the business.
“Carlyn has made significant contributions to Blue Ant Media’s growth and success over the years.
We are grateful for her leadership, commitment and partnership, and we wish her every success in the future.”
The company has also promoted Craig Junner to Executive Vice President and General Manager of Global Channels & Streaming. Reporting to Mark Bishop, Junner will oversee Blue Ant’s global pay television, subscription streaming and FAST services.
Blue Ant Media said the realignment positions the company for its next phase of international growth as it looks to strengthen the monetisation of its growing portfolio of owned and partner content.
