Tonight | Cop This on Channel 10: an AI police robot threatens one last shift – Cop This on Channel 10 is a one-off Australian comedy movie airing at 9.40pm tonight, after Have You Been Paying Attention?. Two officers at a neglected suburban station have one day left before an AI-driven police robot replaces them.
It is Grand Final Day, and Sergeant Jo Hardy and junior officer Matt Pepper are the station’s last two officers. Their new replacement is called Terminal. Jo has watched supposedly transformative policing ideas come and go, while Matt is less inclined to challenge what is happening.
The local comedy premise turns a familiar technology worry into a workplace crisis. Before the pair can consider their futures, another officer leaves them guarding a dangerous criminal, and the station becomes a target for people on both sides of the law.
One last shift gets more dangerous
Nicolette Minster plays Jo, a capable sergeant repeatedly passed over for promotion. Ray O’Leary is Matt, her mild-mannered junior partner. Gary Sweet plays Jayden, the criminal brought into their care by a drug squad officer.
His arrival is unusual, and the two officers are soon caught between corrupt police and other dangerous figures. Jo must form an uneasy alliance with Jayden if she is to protect the station and keep them alive.
Toby Truslove, Rob Carlton, Tony Martin and Anthony Lehmann are also among the cast. Ed Kavalee created, wrote, produced and co-directed the film, bringing an Australian comedy ensemble to the single-night story. It is a movie, not the opening episode of a weekly police series.
