Skydance places Network 10’s Beverley McGarvey under APAC chief James Gibbons – Skydance has finally placed its Australian business on the international organisation chart. In a note to staff, published in full by Deadline, JB Perrette names James Gibbons as President and Managing Director of Asia Pacific and the Middle East and North Africa (APAC and MENA). Beverley McGarvey moves under him.
For the Australian industry, that answers a question left open since the merger closed earlier this month. McGarvey is President Network 10 & Head of Streaming, Paramount Australia and New Zealand. She remains the local leader, and Gibbons now becomes her regional boss. As a result, Network 10 and Paramount+ in Australia now have a clear reporting line into Perrette’s international structure.
The note lists only changes in reporting, not full job titles, and Skydance has not announced any change to McGarvey’s local role. Jason Monteiro and Shonali Bedi also move under Gibbons.
Who is James Gibbons?
Gibbons is a long-serving Discovery executive who already knows the Australian market. Warner Bros. Discovery appointed him President and Managing Director for Japan, Australia and New Zealand in April 2022. In October 2023, he took over the company’s combined Asia Pacific business, based in Singapore.
He was also Warner Bros. Discovery’s regional chief when Max, now HBO Max, launched in Australia in March 2025, first through Foxtel and then directly to consumers. According to Deadline, Gibbons has kept his regional role in the merged company.
What Skydance’s regional leaders control
Perrette, Co-Chair and Chief Business Officer of Skydance TV and Skydance DTC, has set up four regional leaders who report to him. Alongside Gibbons, they are interim Europe and Africa president Andrew Georgiou, who is leaving the company next year; Poland president Kasia Kieli; and Fernando Medin, who leads Latin America and US Hispanic.
These are significant roles. In his note, Perrette says the regional leaders and their teams “will have direct oversight for distribution, ad sales, business and commercial development across both networks and streaming as well as TV programming in their markets”.
At the same time, some functions will be run globally. International streaming and TV marketing teams will report into Shauna Spenley, the global DTC and international TV marketing chief. However, local marketing teams in larger free-to-air markets keep a dotted line to their country leader. International communications teams follow a similar model.
What happened to Bryon Rubin’s Network 10 role?
Earlier this month, Deadline reported that CBS executive Bryon Rubin had temporarily taken charge of Network 10 and Britain’s 5. TV Central covered that interim arrangement in our earlier look at Network 10’s Skydance leadership.
That arrangement has now changed. Deadline reports that Rubin was only briefly in charge of Skydance’s international free-to-air networks. He has since moved into an expanded chief operating officer role in George Cheeks’ TV team.
What it means for Australian viewers
For now, this is a management change rather than a viewer announcement. Skydance has not announced any change to Network 10, Paramount+ or HBO Max for Australian audiences. Perrette also warned staff to expect “further clarifications and refinements” as teams are realigned.
Several executives with international streaming roles are leaving, including Paramount+ international general manager Marco Nobili and Paramount streaming marketing chief Domenic DiMeglio. DiMeglio’s team moves into Spenley’s marketing organisation.
