BAFTA Ceremony to premiere on UKTV in Australia – UKTV is celebrating the glitz and glamour of awards season, with the EE British Film Awards (BAFTAs), premiering express from the UK on Monday, February 19 at 8.30pm. The ceremony will be available to stream On Demand.

Considered one of the biggest nights in the film industry calendar, the EE British Academy Film Awards will be held at the Royal Festival Hall in London’s Southbank Centre, with Scottish actor David Tennant hosting the ceremony.

The awards are renowned for playing to an impressive line-up of stars and are regarded as an important indicator of the frontrunners for the Academy Awards®. The ceremony is full of amazing performances, A-list interviews, and awards, all taking place in front of a star-studded audience at the prestigious Royal Festival Hall.

The year’s nominations reflect a stellar year in film, with Oppenheimer leading with 13 nominations, Poor Things next with 11, Killers of the Flower Moon and The Zone of Interest receiving nine respectively, Anatomy of a Fall, The Holdover, and Maestro with seven, All of Us Strangers with six, and Greta Gerwig’s Barbie receiving five nominations.

Australians nominated included a ‘leading actress’ nod for Australian Margot Robbie for her role in Barbie, Jacob Elordi being nominated for ‘supporting actor’ for Saltburn as well as in the ‘rising star awards’, and Tony McNamara will be hoping to take home the ‘adapted screenplay’ award for Poor Things.

The ‘best film’ nominations include Anatomy, The Holdovers, Killers of the Flower Moon, Oppenheimer, and Poor Things. ‘Leading actress’ nominees include Fantasia Barrino (The Color Purple), Sandra Hüller (Anatomy of a Fall), Carey Mulligan (Maestro), Vivian Oparah (Rye Lane), Margot Robbie (Barbie), and Emma Stone (Poor Things). ‘Leading actor’ nominees include Bradley Cooper (Maestro), Colman Domingo (Rustin), Paul Giamatti (The Holdovers), Barry Keoghan (Saltburn),

Cillian Murphy (Oppenheimer), and Teo Yoo (Past Lives). The ‘director’ category included Andrew Haigh (All of Us Strangers), Justine Triet (Anatomy of a Fall), Alexander Payne (The Holdovers), Bradley Cooper (Maestro), Christopher Nolan (Oppenheimer), and Jonathan Glazer (The Zone of Interest).

Watch Kingsley Ben-Adir and Naomi Ackie announce the nominees for 2024’s EE British Academy Film Awards here.

The BAFTAs will premiere on UKTV on Monday, February 19, at 8.30pm. The coverage will also be available to stream On Demand.
