Claudia Winkleman quits BBC chat show after one season – The Claudia Winkleman Show will not return for a second season on the BBC, after Claudia Winkleman chose to step away from the chat show format.
The decision is relevant for Australian viewers because Network 10 brought the series to local audiences earlier this year. The first season aired on Channel 10 and remains available through 10.
UK outlets including Deadline, ITV News and The Guardian report that Winkleman decided not to continue after the first seven-episode run. The presenter said she was grateful for the opportunity, but found the format too nerve-racking to enjoy.
Why Claudia Winkleman stepped away
Winkleman said she had to try the show to see how it fit. However, she realised the live interview setting made her too nervous.
The BBC has backed her decision. Entertainment director Ed Havard praised Winkleman’s warmth and wit, while also thanking the production team at So Television.
The series launched on BBC One in March 2026. It used the Friday night slot associated with The Graham Norton Show, with So Television also producing Winkleman’s programme.
Australian run on Channel 10
Network 10 promoted the show as an unpredictable talk format built around celebrity guests, audience interaction and real stories from everyday people.
The Australian launch began on Thursday, 16 April at 8.30pm. Guests across the season included Jeff Goldblum, Jennifer Saunders, Vanessa Williams, Tom Allen, Lisa Kudrow, Jamie Dornan, James McAvoy, Niall Horan, Rachel Zegler, Dan Levy and Phil Dunster.
The programme’s end does not signal a wider retreat for Winkleman. She remains closely associated with The Traitors, which has become one of the BBC’s biggest entertainment brands.
For Australian audiences, the first season now stands as the complete run unless Winkleman returns to the format in the future.
