Tonight | History’s Greatest Machines on SBS 2: inventions and rockets close the series – History’s Greatest Machines with Dolph Lundgren closes with two episodes on SBS 2 on Saturday 17 October 2026. Change Agents begins at 6.50pm, followed by Rocket Science at 7.40pm. Both are also available free on SBS On Demand.

The final double bill moves from machines that changed daily life and the spread of ideas to rockets used in warfare, exploration and rescue. The contrast gives Lundgren’s eight-part series two distinct ways to end its survey of technology’s impact.

6.50pm: Episode 7, Change Agents

Change Agents turns to inventions whose influence did not depend on weapons or war. The printing press helped spread ideas and challenge established power. The Apple II, developed in a garage, brought computing closer to households. The Model T put more people on the road and changed everyday travel.

7.40pm: Episode 8, Rocket Science

The finale follows rockets across very different uses. Lundgren examines the Korean Hwacha, an early artillery system, and the Saturn V moon rocket, which carried a new era of space exploration.

A Martin-Baker rocket-powered ejection seat shows the technology’s life-saving side. According to the programme, it has saved more than 7,000 lives.
