Alone USA Season 12 on SBS2 begins with a double episode as ten survivalists are dropped into South Africa’s Karoo desert to compete for a $500,000 prize.
The new location changes the challenge dramatically. Contestants must make their own shelter, find food and withstand the environment with limited equipment and no production crew at their side.
The Karoo’s harsh conditions make the season a fresh test for a format defined by isolation, resourcefulness and resilience. Every practical decision can determine how long a participant lasts.

Alone USA season 12 premieres Thursday 17 September with episodes at 9.20pm and 10.15pm on SBS2 and SBS On Demand.
