Recap | MKR on Channel 7 and 7plus (10 September) – Dietitians’ Instant Restaurant goes pork belly up. Adelaide mums struggle cooking against the clock.
Tonight on MKR, Ash and Cassie hoped to impress with healthy Asian-inspired meals served at their Instant Restaurant, Dieticians Dishing It, but poor timing resulted in an overall score of 60 out of 110.
The young mums from Adelaide got off to a strong start with their entrée of Duck Pancakes, receiving sevens from judges Manu Feildel and Colin Fassnidge.
Feeling confident about their main, Crispy Pork Belly with Green Papaya Salad, they got to work as Ash revealed how much Cassie’s support has meant following Ash’s recent Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis.
The pair’s high was brought crashing down by a visit to the kitchen from Colin, who pointed out they should have started cooking their pork hours ago.
With the guests left feeling hungry, Ash and Cassie attempted to speed up the cooking process. The peanut sauce was a hit, but the pork belly left disappointing results for their main.
Manu acknowledged the pork’s crispy skin, but declared: “the pork underneath was unseasoned, unloved and undercooked.”
In putting a healthy twist on their Coconut Kaffir Lime Panna Cotta with Lime Syrup and Ginger Crumb for dessert, Ash and Cassie received feedback the dessert lacked in sugar.
While Colin didn’t mind the lack of sweetness and loved the syrup, he admitted the dish “needed more elements.”
After the wheels fell off in the main, the overall reception to Ash and Cassie’s Instant Restaurant was hit and miss, and they received a less than stellar final combined score of 60 out of 110.
