The Making of the Awakening on NITV part of NITV’s memorial programming in honour of Rhoda Roberts AO – As part of NITV’s memorial programming in honour of Rhoda Roberts AO, NITV has secured a one-time broadcast of The Making of the Awakening, a Spectak documentary that follows Rhoda Roberts and Stephen Page as Artistic Directors of ‘The Awakening’ – the 8-minute First Nations opening of the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
25 years since its one and only broadcast, The Making of the Awakening offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at the creation of one of Australia’s most iconic Cultural moments.
The documentary captures the vision, scale and Cultural significance of a landmark moment where over 1,000 First Nations performers proudly shared Culture with a global audience during the Sydney 2000 Olympic Opening Ceremony.
The program will air next Wednesday, April 22, at 6:45pm on NITV,as a linear-only broadcast, and forms a part of special NITV programming, paying tribute to Rhoda’s immense contribution across culture, theatre, arts, dance, media, journalism and public life in Australia, including as the inaugural SBS Elder in Residence.
