Tonight | Saint-Pierre on ABC: season two opens with an Abstract Killer mystery – Saint-Pierre is back for a second season tonight, and the premiere digs up an old nightmare. Episode one airs at 8.20pm on ABC and ABC iview.
The series partners a Newfoundland cop and a Parisian cop to crack cases on the French island of Saint-Pierre. Season two runs for 12 episodes.
The island’s mix of French and Canadian culture has always shaped the show. Tonight, it also sets up a case with deep roots in the past.
Is the Abstract Killer back?
A man is found brutally murdered, his body staged like a work of art. As a result, the cops question whether the infamous Abstract Killer has returned.
That killer was responsible for three equally macabre deaths more than a decade ago. The case was thought to have been solved and laid to rest.
Saint-Pierre’s cops face a new boss
However, Arch and Fitz’s investigation raises an uncomfortable question. Did the SPMP misidentify the original serial killer?
That question causes tension with their new boss, Prefect Charlotte Diard. Meanwhile, the pair consult expert psychologist Dr Theo Fouchard for fresh insight.
The visit soon turns awkward. Fitz realises that Theo and Arch dated in the past, adding a personal twist to an already tense case.
The premiere raises a hard question about the past. If the original case was wrong, the island’s police will have to face mistakes made long before Arch and Fitz were partners.
Don’t miss Saint-Pierre, Friday 6 November at 8.20pm on ABC and streaming on ABC iview.
