The first episode makes family and cultural food memories part of the contest rather than treating cooking as a purely technical exercise.

Home cooks from across Australia bring dishes shaped by family tradition, heritage and migration. The Country Women’s Association helps judge a search for Australia’s Recipe of the Year.
The opening Bring a Plate challenge narrows the field from 20 cooks to 10. Those who continue move into the barn kitchen for their first CWA Gold Standard challenge.
A CWA Ribbon is at stake as the remaining cooks try to show why their recipes belong in the competition. The premiere sets up a seven-episode journey, but does not reveal who advances beyond this first round.
