Tonight | Lynley on ABC: a teenager’s murder points to corruption inside the precinct – Lynley ends its run tonight with a case that cuts close to home for Havers. The final episode airs at 8.30pm on ABC and ABC iview.
The series is based on Elizabeth George’s Inspector Lynley novels. In this fourth and final episode, the detectives hunt a possible serial killer with ties to a church.
It is a fitting finale for the partnership. The case asks both detectives to question the people around them, not just the suspects.
A death in Great Yarmouth
Havers reluctantly arrests a transient teenager for petty theft. A day later, he is found brutally murdered in a Great Yarmouth back alley. As a result, Havers will stop at nothing to hunt down his killer.
The investigation leads the pair to a church with ties to a drug gang. From there, the trail becomes harder to read.
Lynley faces corruption from within
However, the detectives also start to make connections to a similar case handled by a colleague. That raises the possibility of corruption from within the precinct.
Trust and loyalty will be tested. In the end, the two detectives find themselves bonded by a mutual crisis of faith.
For viewers who have followed the season, the finale brings the focus back to the bond between the two leads, with a case that puts their loyalty to the force under pressure.
Don’t miss the final episode of Lynley, Saturday 31 October at 8.30pm on ABC and streaming on ABC iview.
