Four Corners season finale Unprofessional investigates misconduct within Victoria Police – Four Corners will close its 2026 season with Unprofessional, a new investigation from reporter Louise Milligan airing Monday 9 November at 8.30pm on ABC TV and ABC iview.

The episode begins with the death by suicide of a police officer who had served for more than two decades. Her bereaved family searches for answers, but the coroner’s report does not provide the clarity or solace they are seeking.

As the final Four Corners investigation of the year, Unprofessional turns its attention to accountability inside a public institution charged with enforcing the law. It asks what happens when the conduct under scrutiny is within the police force itself and a family believes critical questions remain unresolved.

Internal investigation exposes allegations at the station

Months after the officer’s death, Victoria Police’s internal integrity division is asked to investigate activities at the station where she worked. The inquiry exposes allegations involving sexism, bullying and harassment.

Victoria Police Commissioner Mike Bush condemns the conduct as unacceptable. Meanwhile, questions emerge about material that was not provided to the Coroner.

The officer’s family says the force failed her and is calling for a public inquest. Milligan’s report examines the family’s search for answers and the hidden trail of conduct uncovered by investigators.

Who is policing the police?

Unprofessional centres on a fundamental accountability question: who investigates the police when officers and their workplace culture become the subject of serious allegations?

The episode traces the internal investigation and the claims of illegal and unethical behaviour it exposed. It also examines whether the existing processes delivered the transparency the bereaved family expected.
