Paul Murray Live: Jess Wilson and Warren Pickering face News24 election specials – Victorian voters will get two consecutive opportunities to question leading political figures when Paul Murray Live presents a Pub Test with Opposition Leader Jess Wilson and an Ask Me Anything with One Nation’s Warren Pickering.
The one-hour Paul Murray Live: Pub Test airs at 9pm AEDT tonight, Monday 9 November, followed by Paul Murray Live: Ask Me Anything at 9pm AEDT on Tuesday 10 November. Both specials will be hosted live from Melbourne by News24 anchor Paul Murray.
The programs arrive during the final three weeks of Victoria’s election campaign. Election day is Saturday 28 November, while early voting opens on Wednesday 18 November. That timing gives the two audience-led formats a direct role in testing the candidates’ priorities before voting begins.
Jess Wilson faces the Paul Murray Live Pub Test
Wilson will take questions directly from local voters during Monday night’s Pub Test, with News24 promising that nothing will be off limits. The format moves the political conversation out of the television studio and into a pub, putting political leaders face-to-face with members of the public.
Now in its 10th year, the Pub Test has become one of Paul Murray Live‘s recurring election features. Instead of relying on questions selected by the host or a newsroom, the special gives voters the opportunity to raise the issues affecting their communities and press the politician for a direct response.
Wilson has served as Victoria’s Leader of the Opposition and Liberal Party leader since November 2025. She represents Kew in the Legislative Assembly and is also the Shadow Treasurer.
Warren Pickering takes the Ask Me Anything hot seat
On Tuesday night, Victorian One Nation leader Warren Pickering will take part in Paul Murray Live: Ask Me Anything. Viewers’ questions will take centre stage as he discusses the issues shaping the state election campaign.
News24 is also teasing whether Pickering will know the Reserve Bank of Australia’s cash rate or again be caught off guard. The exchange is designed to test both his policy knowledge and his ability to respond without prepared talking points.
Pickering is One Nation’s Victorian state president and the party’s lower-house candidate for Pakenham. His official candidate profile highlights previous work in farming, construction and mining, along with a decade of service as an Australian Army combat engineer.
Paul Murray says voters will drive the interviews
Murray said the audience-led format makes the two specials different from the many conventional interviews conducted during an election campaign.
Leaders will do hundreds of interviews in a campaign, but this is different. This isn’t about my questions, it’s about our viewers’ questions. One of the great things about having to look people in the eye is there’s nowhere to duck or dodge, but that also means there is a chance to really connect.
It’s one of the few chances during the next few weeks where you can see Jess and Warren up close. It’s about seeing them thinking on their feet, understanding their priorities, and getting a real sense of their personalities. This is a change election, even the government are trying to run on that and I can’t wait to see Jess and Warren explain their plan for change.
Paul Murray, News24 anchor
The format means the audience will shape the direction of each hour. For viewers following the campaign, the back-to-back specials also provide a chance to compare how Wilson and Pickering handle scrutiny in different settings.
