Tonight | Tina Arena: Unravel Me on Channel 7: 50 years of an Australian icon – Tina Arena: Unravel Me on Channel 7 marks 50 years in the spotlight for one of Australia’s most enduring artists. The feature documentary has its exclusive Australian television premiere tonight at 7.00pm on Channel 7 and 7plus.
The film arrives on free-to-air after premiering at the Melbourne International Film Festival and playing in cinemas. Its move to a Sunday night slot on Seven gives a much wider audience the chance to see a story that has followed Arena across five decades of fame.
Tina the icon and Tina the woman
Unravel Me is built around two lenses. One looks at the icon audiences know from the stage and the charts. The other turns to the woman behind that public image.
The documentary peels back those years of fame to show the dualities that have shaped her life. It also promises new revelations that have stayed untold until now.
Filming took place in Australia, France, the United States and London. The present-day story closes in Melbourne in 2026, bringing the journey back home.
Who appears in the documentary
Director Adrian Russell Wills made the film with writer and producer Jessica Carrera. Helium Pictures produced it with support from Screen Australia, Screen NSW and Seven.
Friends and collaborators share their view of her career, including Marc Antony, Desmond Child, Ronan Keating, Jessica Mauboy and Johnny Young. Family members Nancy and Silvana Arena also appear.
For Arena, the film is about honesty as much as music. She describes her approach plainly:
There’s no smoke and mirrors here.
