What the documentary covers

The intimate portrait looks at the duality of Tina Arena’s life as a public icon and a private person. Across five decades in music, it traces the Italian-Australian singer’s determination through industry rejection, breakthrough success, setbacks and a second ascent in France. The release says Arena has made 25 albums and sold more than eight million records worldwide.

Original material was filmed in Australia, France, the United States and London. The documentary also draws on international interviews, archival footage, still photography, personal home videos, music videos and live performances, with Arena telling her story in her own words.

Wonnarua director Adrian Russell Wills, whose credits include Black Divaz, directs the Helium Pictures production. Mark Fennessy is executive producer and Jessica Carrera is writer-producer. Screen Australia provided principal production funding; Screen NSW and Channel 7 are among the financing partners, and post-production was completed in New South Wales.
