Tonight | Off the Grid with Colin and Manu on Channel 7: Fiordland starts a new food journey – Off the Grid with Colin and Manu on Channel 7 takes the chefs into New Zealand’s Fiordland tonight. Colin Fassnidge and Manu Feildel cook aboard Pure Salt before heading towards Otago and the high country.

The second episode takes a different route from the Stewart Island and Te Anau opening trip. It brings the pair onto the water, then into activities and landscapes that extend the food journey well beyond the kitchen.

For viewers familiar with Colin and Manu as My Kitchen Rules judges, the appeal is seeing them follow local people and places rather than score a rival team’s dinner. The ingredients, conversations and travel shape what they cook at each stop.

From Fiordland to Otago

In Fiordland, the chefs cook on board Pure Salt. A boat kitchen places their shared meal amid one of Aotearoa’s most distinctive landscapes and gives their cooking a change of pace.

They then travel to Otago to meet Laura from Real Country for axe throwing. The stop puts another local encounter into the trip before the pair head to Minaret Station. There, they cycle through high-country terrain.

The sequence links three different experiences in one evening: cooking on the water, trying an activity with a local host and riding through the mountains. It is not a competition with an elimination or a judge’s score. The chefs’ curiosity and the people they meet drive the episode.

Food and travel across Aotearoa

Across season two, Colin and Manu travel with a small caravan and seek out ingredients and food traditions around New Zealand. The broader series ranges from seafood and wild game to roadside cook-ups and local feasts. Each stop gives the pair another reason to listen to the people who know that place.

Tonight’s Fiordland and Otago itinerary shows that format in action. Even when the chefs are away from a conventional kitchen, the show keeps returning to the connection between a meal, its setting and the community around it.
