The Heart of It with Kay McGrath to air as 7NEWS special on Channel 7 – 7NEWS Queensland presenter Kay McGrath will honour the life of her fiance Richard Moore in a deeply personal four-part health series airing on Channel 7 and 7plus.
7NEWS Presents: The Heart of It with Kay McGrath begins Sunday, 30 August and airs across four nights during 7NEWS at 6.00pm. The special follows McGrath’s journey through love, loss and her determination to turn a personal tragedy into a life-saving message for Australian viewers.

A Personal Story With A Health Message
While holidaying in India last year, Richard Moore suffered a sudden heart attack. Despite the efforts of doctors in Agra, he could not be saved. McGrath was left to confront the shock of losing her soulmate and the painful task of bringing Richard home to Australia.
The series retraces the events that unfolded in India through emotional interviews, medical expertise and firsthand accounts. It examines the warning signs that went unnoticed, the circumstances surrounding Richard’s treatment and the lessons that could help other families.
The special also explores McGrath’s own health journey and Richard’s legacy, with a focus on recognising the signs of heart disease and seeking help early.
Kay McGrath Shares Richard’s Story
McGrath said she is sharing Richard’s story because she believes his death was preventable.
“When we boarded a plane to India last year, we had no idea of the silent killer that was coming with us. We simply missed the signs,” McGrath said.
“I hope Richard’s story helps save lives and prevent others going through the extraordinary pain and trauma of a sudden, and needless loss.”
The series has been produced in partnership with the Heart Foundation, Australia’s leading heart health charity and the nation’s largest non-government funder of heart research. It aims to raise awareness of cardiovascular disease and help Australians better understand heart health, risk factors and warning signs.
