Emmy Rossum thriller Furious renewed for season two on Disney+ – Disney+ has renewed the Hulu Original thriller Furious for a second season, with season one streaming internationally on Disney+.
For Australian subscribers, the renewal gives Disney+ another continuing adult drama under the Hulu banner. It also adds to the streamer’s broader general entertainment slate, which now sits alongside Disney, FX, Star Wars, Marvel, ESPN and National Geographic programming.
Furious season two confirmed
The first season comes from creator and executive producer Elizabeth Meriwether, with Emmy Rossum also starring and executive producing. Season one is streaming now on Hulu in the United States and Disney+ internationally. The season finale is set for Monday, 31 August.
Disney+ says the series has gained momentum across its run. According to the streamer, views for episode seven were up 40 per cent from the premiere, based on one-day views. In addition, Furious was Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes at 100 per cent on launch day and has held at 98 per cent.
What Furious is about
Furious follows FBI agent Alice Black, played by Rossum, as she hunts a mysterious and calculating female serial killer, played by Lola Petticrew. However, as both women chase their own ideas of justice, their lives begin to connect. The line between right and wrong also becomes harder to read.
The first season stars Emmy Rossum, Lola Petticrew, Quincy Tyler Bernstine and Scoot McNairy. Guest stars include Jake Lacy, Rob Delaney, Hope Davis, Rob Yang and Steve Way.
The series is created, written and executive produced by Elizabeth Meriwether. Rossum executive produces for Composition 8, alongside Ronald Bass, Matt Olmstead and Sam Hoffman. Brian Kirk executive produced and directed the first two episodes. The series is produced by 20th Television and Searchlight Television.
