Kurt Burnette is joining Vinyl Group, with Mumbrella reporting today that the former Seven West Media chief revenue officer has landed at the fast-expanding Australian media and music technology company.
The move is significant because Burnette is one of Australian television’s best-known commercial executives, while Vinyl Group has been building a much larger media footprint across trade, entertainment, culture and digital publishing assets.
For TV Central readers, the appointment connects a long-time Seven commercial leader with a company that has been increasingly active in Australian media. Burnette’s next chapter comes after more than three decades at Seven, where he was closely associated with sales, sport and major commercial partnerships.
Burnette left Seven in 2024 during a wider restructure at the broadcaster. At the time, AdNews reported that he had started at Seven as a sales assistant in 1990 and later became one of the network’s most senior sales figures.
Business News lists Burnette as a former Seven West Media chief revenue officer, noting that his Seven career included roles across sports sales, Sydney sales leadership and national sales, as well as work on digital channel launches and major advertising revenue strategy.
Burnette’s move to Vinyl Group follows a period in which the company has been reshaping its publishing and media operation. Vinyl completed its acquisition of Mediaweek in 2024, adding the Australian media trade title to its portfolio.
Vinyl has continued to pursue scale in media. Earlier this year, Variety Australia reported that Vinyl Group had announced the acquisition of Val Morgan Digital, a deal that added brands and commercial relationships across entertainment, youth culture and digital advertising.
Burnette also moved into AI-related work after leaving Seven, with Mediaweek reporting in 2025 that he had taken on a content consultant role with Cre8tive AI.
His arrival at Vinyl Group gives the company another experienced commercial operator as it works across advertising, publishing, music technology and entertainment audiences. It also marks another notable post-Seven move for one of the network’s most recognisable former executives.
