Take 5 with Zan Rowe returns for season five on Thursday 20 August at 8.30pm on ABC TV. All episodes will also stream on ABC iview.
The new season brings together a standout mix of global music, culture and political figures. Guests include Shania Twain, former New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, Peter Garrett, David Byrne, Darren Hayes, Lainey Wilson, Genesis Owusu and Vika & Linda Bull.
For ABC, the series continues to work across television, streaming and audio. It gives viewers a clear ABC TV appointment, while ABC iview, Double J and ABC listen keep the format alive beyond the broadcast slot.
Season Five Guests
Hosted by Zan Rowe, the acclaimed music interview series follows a simple idea. Each guest chooses five songs linked to a personal theme. Those songs then open up stories from different parts of their life and career.
ABC says the new season explores love, loss, identity and resilience. Shania Twain reflects on the childhood poverty that shaped her. Darren Hayes shares a personal story of healing. David Byrne follows the creative curiosity that has driven his career.
Jacinda Ardern reveals the songs that guided her leadership. Peter Garrett shares his soundtrack for change. Lainey Wilson tips her cowboy hat to the songs that keep her grounded, while Genesis Owusu charts his evolution as an artist.
The season also features ARIA Hall of Fame artists Vika & Linda Bull. Their episode draws on family, harmony and sisterhood.
Where To Watch
Across the season, music works as a doorway into memory. The conversations are designed to show a different side of each guest through the songs that have stayed with them.
