2027 Channel 7 Upfront: exclusive returns and undecided shows – Following Channel 7’s 2027 upfront, TV Central contacted Seven’s programming department about shows absent from the main announcement. Seven confirmed a further group of returning programs and identified others still awaiting a decision.

The exclusive update fills in details beyond the headline commissions and established hits. It also clarifies an important point for viewers: a program missing from an upfront announcement has not necessarily been cancelled. The shows awaiting a decision below remain unconfirmed, rather than axed or guaranteed a place on the 2027 schedule.

Seven’s main 2027 slate announcement covered new shows, returning franchises, news and sport. Here, TV Central looks at more confirmed returns and programs still under consideration across Channel 7, 7two and 7mate.

2027 Channel 7 Upfront: more programs confirmed to return

Seven confirmed that House of Wellness, Britain’s Got Talent, The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, Happy’s Place and Motorway Patrol will return to its line-up. For overseas productions, an Australian broadcast return does not necessarily mean the original broadcaster has commissioned another season.

Seven also says there are more episodes of First Dates Australia to come. It did not describe those episodes as a newly commissioned season, so viewers should not read that into the confirmation.

New episodes of Family Guy and American Dad will continue on Seven, with brand-new seasons of both animated comedies confirmed.

7two and 7mate returns

For 7two, Seven confirmed season four of Luxury Escapes: World’s Best Holidays and a new series of Escape to the Country. It also confirmed season 14 of Dog Patrol and season two of Karen Pirie.

On 7mate, Rookie Truckers is returning for season two. It adds another confirmed program to the multichannel schedule beyond the headline upfront announcements.

Unaired episodes and a delayed 2027 arrival

There is a useful distinction for two long-running factual series. Seven still has unaired Border Security episodes from season 16. It also has unaired Highway Patrol episodes from season 14. These are existing episodes, rather than announcements of seasons 17 and 15.

Seven also confirmed that series eight of Caught on Dashcam is coming. Meanwhile, Seven now intends to screen Salvage Hunters Down Under in 2027, following its 2026 delay.

Which shows are still awaiting a decision?

Seven says it has made no decision on another group of programs. That includes Dancing with the Stars, Jim Jefferies and Friends, My Reno Rules and season 10 of First Dates UK. The Great Outdoors and any iteration of SAS also remain undecided.

Seven has also made no decision on season eight of S.W.A.T. or season six of Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly. Murder in a Small Town and Police Code Zero: Officer Under Attack remain in that group too. Seven has neither confirmed these titles for 2027 nor called them cancelled.

On 7two, Seven has not acquired the next series of I Escaped to the Country, a separate program from Escape to the Country. Its 2027 return is therefore undecided. Seven has also yet to decide on season 15 of Bondi Vet and season four of Wildlife ER. For 7mate, decisions remain open on season 16 of Storage Wars, season two of Cape Carnage: Killer Catch, season two of Outback Wreckers and season three of Road Wars.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia depends on another season

Seven is currently showing season 18 of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The network would pick up another season if the series continues, but it has not confirmed a further Australian run while the program’s future remains undecided.

The Voice remains under discussion

Seven would not confirm a 2027 return for The Voice. Discussions with the production company are still underway as Seven assesses how to move forward with the format. At this stage, no decision has been made on its return.

What this means for the 2027 schedule

Annual upfronts set out a broadcaster’s major priorities, but they cannot give a final answer for every series across a main channel and its multichannels. Seven has now confirmed a substantial additional group of returns while leaving a separate group genuinely open.

Conspicuously, Seven did not identify a single program in TV Central’s enquiries as definitely not returning. That does not mean every undecided title will return. Seven may be keeping its options open instead of announcing departures now; that is an inference from its answers, not confirmation of an internal decision about any particular show. TV Central will update readers when the network makes further announcements.
