The Mosquito Bowl trailer: Peter Berg’s Queensland-filmed war drama lands in cinemas and on Netflix – Netflix has debuted the official trailer for The Mosquito Bowl, the World War II drama from Peter Berg starring Nicholas Galitzine, Bill Skarsgård, Ray Nicholson and Tom Francis.

The film will be in select cinemas from 12 November. It then arrives only on Netflix from 25 November.

The trailer follows the first teaser for The Mosquito Bowl, which TV Central covered earlier this year. It also gives Australian audiences a first proper look at a film made here, after TV Central reported when filming began in Queensland.

What The Mosquito Bowl is about

Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, four of America’s top college football stars set their fame aside to enlist in the Marines.

As they prepare for the brutal invasion of Okinawa, they will play in a legendary game. It features some of the greatest players in history. For many of them, it will be the last game they ever play.

According to Netflix, the film is adapted from Buzz Bissinger’s non-fiction book The Mosquito Bowl: A Game of Life and Death in World War II. Galitzine plays John McLaughry, Skarsgård plays Bob Bauman, Nicholson plays Tony Butkovich and Francis plays David Schreiner.

Filmed in Queensland and northern New South Wales

The Mosquito Bowl was filmed in Australia, including locations in Queensland and northern New South Wales.

In fact, the Australian landscape stood in for several locations in the film, from Marine training grounds to the Pacific Theater. When production began, Berg called Queensland’s landscapes “cinematic gold — perfect for bringing this story to life.”

The film is supported by the Australian Government through the Location Offset. It is also supported by the Queensland Government through Screen Queensland’s Production Attraction Strategy, and by the City of Gold Coast.
