The Fox Q&A tour brings cast and creators to Australian cinemas – A run of special screenings will take the new Australian film through Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Perth in November, with director Dario Russo and selected cast members appearing for post-film conversations. The tour begins on 18 November, ahead of the film’s national cinema release on 26 November.
For filmgoers, the Q&As are a chance to hear how an Adelaide-shot, darkly comic fantasy reached cinemas after a festival run. The announced itinerary covers 12 cinema engagements across four cities, but the release does not assign particular guests to individual sessions. Check the booking listing before choosing a screening if you want to see a specific speaker.
Jai Courtney leads The Fox as Nick, whose relationship with his fiancée Kori, played by Emily Browning, unravels when he discovers she has been unfaithful. After catching a talking fox, voiced by Olivia Colman, Nick is offered a bizarre way to change Kori. What first seems like an answer to his problems forces him to question the cost of trying to remake someone he loves.

Their appearances vary by stop; the announcement does not say that every guest will attend every screening.
A darkly comic Australian folktale
The film mixes fantasy and satire around a recognisable relationship question: what would happen if someone could change their partner? Its supernatural bargain gives Nick a way to test that idea, but not a simple solution to the hurt and mistrust that set the story in motion.
Alongside Courtney, Browning and Colman, the ensemble includes Damon Herriman, Claudia Doumit, Zlatko Burić, Frankie J. Holden, Heather Mitchell, Peter O’Brien, Kim Gyngell and Miranda Otto. Sam Neill voices Magpie. The film was shot in Adelaide, with Causeway Films producing. Madman is handling its Australian release, while Protagonist Pictures is responsible for international sales.
The release identifies major production investment from Screen Australia alongside Orogen Entertainment, A-Up Duck Productions and the South Australian Film Corporation. It also lists support from Flickstar, Kojo Studios and the Adelaide Film Festival Investment Fund. That combination places the film’s production and the final Adelaide tour stops in the same city where it was made.
The Fox has already travelled through the festival circuit. The release cites a place on Variety’s eight best films of SXSW Austin list, a Best Australian Director award at the Melbourne International Film Festival, the GIO Audience Award for Best Australian Feature at Sydney Film Festival, and a Jury Award for Best Narrative Feature at Calgary Underground Film Festival. Those accolades provide context for the Q&A tour, which brings the film back to Australian audiences before its wider cinema rollout.
