The film uses rediscovered 35mm footage of George Michael performing at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy during the European leg of his 1988 Faith Tour.
For Australian cinema audiences, this is being sold as a big-screen music event rather than a standard documentary. It captures Michael at 24, just after Faith had turned him from a Wham! star into one of the defining solo artists of the late 1980s.

A lost concert restored
George Michael: The Faith Tour brings together footage from Michael’s 1988 Paris performances. The material has been restored and remastered for cinemas, giving fans a new way to see the tour decades later.
The cinema release also opens with Finding Faith, an original short film by Mary McCartney. The short uses newly discovered audio and imagery from 1986 to 1988 to frame the Faith era.
David Austin and Andy Morahan direct the feature. Morahan also directed the original 1988 live concert shoot, while producers include Austin, Lucie Avery, Rosie Holley and Philip Noel.
Faith returns to cinemas
The release connects with The Faith Tour album, an 18-track live album featuring previously unreleased recordings from George Michael’s Wham! and solo catalogues.
Together, the film and album revisit the period when Michael’s voice, songwriting and stage presence helped define late-1980s pop culture.
