They are a cross section of what island life is all about; islands that express the diversity, the history and the challenges of life on islands Down Under.
In the first episode, dramatic aerials of Sydney’s iconic harbour reveal Martin kayaking to Fort Denison, the island with a glorious front seat location right at the heart of the harbour.
A prison for early convicts, then a British imperial military outpost, for Martin, the fort is the first stepping-stone on his epic voyage round Australia’s islands.
Then it’s on to Lord Howe Island, Norfolk Island, Restoration Island, Thursday Island and Friday Island.
